This module introduces student to the role of Museum, History Center, National Archive and other Cultural institutions in heritage preservation. To identify the principle functions of museum/history centers and to guide the appraisal of the records that document historical functions and heritage of a country.
This module will discuss on tools and resources essential for librarians in managing the Bruneiana and Islamic Collection in particular. In addition, the students will learn information specific to Islamic materials such as publishes of Islamic works, Islamic collections in libraries around the world and issues surrounding the classification of Islamic library materials. The module also highlights the research resources available at other cultural and heritage institution worldwide and the current collection trends and challenges in heritage preservation.

- Understand the role of curators in heritage preservation.
- Discuss the tools and resources essential for librarians managing the Bruneian and Islamic Collections.
Learning Objectives:
On completion of this unit the students should be able to:
- Be able to assist in cataloging, carry out preparatory and maintaining work at museums, zoos, botanical gardens and private collections.
- Write and label collections accurately.
- Use the tools and resources available to manage Bruneian and Islamic Collection.
